Artist Statement

In my work I strive to make pottery that connects with the viewer, and through the exploration of surface, form, and imagery my intention is to evoke a sense of nostalgia. I push my work to make it appear as if it has come from the past by adding layers of terra sigillata, slip, stains, and underglaze. By adding various image transfer techniques I allow the viewer to connect with a shape, a graphic, or pop culture icon, furthering this nostalgia.  In order to draw from the past I will often reference vintage cookware, classic magazine ads, gig posters, and mid century and pop art.
